Множество моих друзей рассеяно по разным временным зонам. Держать их всех на связи и так проблематично, но если не работает GMail – как же мне отправить им письмо? Проще простого, как оказывается.

Если у вас есть GMail (а я полагаю, он скоро будет вообще у каждого), то у вас также есть доступ в Документам Google. Docs.google.com хорош не только тем, что предлагает сотни тысяч шаблонов самых разнообразных документов. Суть его сводится к тому, чтобы люди пользовались этими документами одновременно.

Достаточно просто написать своим друзьям письмо в Документах Google, а затем предоставить им доступ. Приглашение отправляются от вашего имени через внутреннюю систему google, так то вам нужно только выбрать получателей (или ввести их адреса вручную) и добавить от себя пояснительную записку.

Вообще-то, если совсем неймется, то можно просто всю переписку вести в Документах Google, но это будет очень, очень олд-скул!

Кстати, я все чаще пользуюсь docs.google.com, когда меня просят что-то перевести – мало того, что за результатом работы можно следить вообще не отрываясь, но еще и работать можно синхронно! Так, можно видеть кто сколько перевел и кто сколько набрал текста; творить, вместе писать книгу… Что-то меня увело от почты!

В любом случае, отправили таким образом приглашение, вы обеспечите доступ в необходимой информации нужным вам людям!

OpenID logo

Upon upgrade for Wordpress 2.8 and sometimes even without it I have encountered an interesting problem: when trying to login using OpenID (or add OpenID via admin panel) I was getting this peculiar message: OpenID login failed: Invalid openid.mode ‘<No mode set>’.

As you know, my Wordpress theme ioni2 is highly customized so I though at some stage that this would be a problem within the code, but the solution was just a few clicks away, really.

What happened?

I would input any OpenID (http or https), be redirected to the OpenID provider site (say, blogspot), confirm my identity and then be redirected back. This is where the blog would give me the error so it was clearly the plugins fault.

Interestingly enough, any similar OpenID plugin would produce the same results. Yadis, Another OpenID plugin – all of them. So I figured out – the problem was not with the ioni2 theme but rather with the underlying server configuration!

Moreover I have seen this problem only and exclusively with Hostgator. For instance Bluehost, where my other projects are hosted, does not seem to have it. Line by line comparison showed that their configurations although difference, are more or less alike. So.. support call!

Solution:

It appears that OpenID was triggering a mod_security rule set by the hosting company:

[*] Rule ID: 340163
[*] URLS Affected: /openid/consumer
[*] Description: Remote File Injection attempt in ARGS (MM)

So the solution was to whitelist the domain within this serverrule. Just request your hosting support something like:

I am running Wordpress and OpenID plugins. OpenID is a well-known standard (you can check it at openid.net) and very secure open-source project, same as Wordpress. However it seems to trigger mod_security as it considers is as a intrusion.

This should solve the problem of No+mode+Set in OpenID.

Moreover, I believe that the same goes for any server configuration with Drupal, Joomla and any other CMS which relies on this absolutely wonderful DiSO plugin

ioni Pagination in action

One day I was just had enough. I was tired of Page Navi plugin. It uses excessive code, unnecessarily calles database and generally is not at all so customizable. So I have decided to make my own pagination plugin – and use only native Wordpress code.

Basically you just have to upload the plugin to your wp-content/plugins directory and activate it using the standard Wordpress routine

In you theme, wherever you want to put the pagination, put this code:

<?php ioni_paginate();?>

This will insert the <div > id=”navigation” at the place of insertion according to default settings – or your changed ones.

However if you want to make things a bit more secure – make sure you insert this code:

<?php if (function_exists(‘ioni_paginate’)) ioni_paginate();?>

This will also check if the plugin is actually activated, so I suggest you use this code instead of the short one.

So the final list looks like the following:

1. Fav Icon for ioni2 (what a Premium WP theme without an Icon?)
2. Check translations (currently English and Russin)
3. Open ID. This suka just would not work.

At this stage I can actually call it Known issued with ioni2

In calling ioni2 Smart Wordpress Theme I mean that it relies heavily on the Wordpress routines with minimum reliance to the side plugins (only for fancy things!)

So let’s start!

So my current list to bugs to address and to do looks like the following:

General

• Wrap counters and get them by Ajax call
• Clean out translation of the theme
• Make translations (German, Belarus ,Chineese)
• Double-cros check for the installed plugins and Wordpress verion internal check
• Ensure the integrity with OpenID is complete
• Make OpenID authorisation optional

Commenting

• Make sure that the Commenting Terms Agreement is checked for the form to be submit
• Make Commenting Terms Agreement optional
• Option to choose any Page as Commenting Terms in Admin Panel

Wordpress Plugins:

• Recreate Submit to comments plugin – so that it addresses contemporary requirements and allow for inline reply

After that I consider that the theme official shall be moved to Gamma Production shate – and would be made avalibale on http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/

Clean design is fine; but I need ideas: so, shall we move the Search to the top or leave it totally away, to utilize the Ajax style search for Wordpress? Hard to tell, but I think that something will come up any time soon!

Now I have this idea about the formatting of ioni2: The Tags, Archives, Search and Category pages should be the same – since they pretty much list posts; however the main difference would be the Left Sidebar where I would put corresponding links that are semantically connected for the best SEO.

And I plan to create one plugin like Amazon reading one, but for the local store, which may or may not prove to be an interesting experiment

Первая страница блога имеет несколько блоков, которые закреплены жестко, а также несколько, которых могут быть легко изменены. Отличие ioni2 в том, что большинство вещей, которые вы можете изменить, находятся в панели администратора Wordpress, во разделе Дизайн, «настройки ioni2».

Вы можете добавить свой собственный код для основного баннера Google - для того, чтобы заменить эту прекрасную рекламу ioni2. Просто войдите в свой аккаунт Google Adsense, скопируйте код Adsense и поместите его в соответствующее поле. Вы можете выбрать столько категорий на верхнем меню, сколько хочется – однако обратите внимание на эстетику – ioni2 может поддерживать две и более линий верхнего меню категорий – но лучше, если все они перечислены в одной строке. Выбор категорий осуществляется так же а панели администратора.

То же самое относится к категории Лучшее. Какова бы ни была настройка плагина Featured Cateogry в административной панели, выбор категорий для темы осуществляется в настройках темы Ioni2. Вы можете выбрать столько, сколько Вы хотите – но ioni2 все равно выберет только три (и выведет их в общем порядке)

Два боковых сайдбара, левый и правый – динамичны, вы можете добавить код через Wordpress панель Виджетов, но прошу вас – уделяйте внимание эстетике!
